Huipil: traditional garment worn by indigenous women from central Mexico to Central America. Ceremonial huipils are the most elaborate and are reserved for weddings, burials, women of high rank and even to dress the statues of saints. The style of traditional huipils generally indicates the ethnicity and community of the wearer as each have their own methods of creating the fabric and decorations. They vary in fabric and design.
Epic: Is what Maria did to get her hands on these! She grew up wearing these gorgeous tops and wanted to share their beauty with you! She climbed the high mountains of Oaxaca for these. She bartered with the local Paisanas and gave them a fair trade. They've been upcycled and are reversible so you can rock two looks! Twas not an easy feat, but that Maria can do anything!
Please Note: Dry clean only. No two are alike. This is a one of a kind piece. Trim may shed. Huipil varies in design, embroidery, and fabric. Loose and undone stitching and threading is to be expected as these tops are Vintage. They are not new, and have been upcycled into beautiful handmade vests. They are perfectly imperfect but so fabulous to wear!
